The Broadcast Operations Engineer will be responsible for day to day operations of broadcast technology for Minor League Baseball. The primary role will be to support multiple ballpark devices and associated live-streams for gameday and consumer facing productions. This position will be part-time, seasonal in alignment with the MLB/MiLB schedule and located either in Midtown Manhattan or remotely.

The candidate should possess an understanding of audio and video broadcast systems, live production, as well as having functional knowledge of integrated multimedia control systems

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Primary support of game-day operations for the MiLB.TV product. QC, analyze, and troubleshoot gameday feeds and corresponding MiLB ballpark hardware for customer-facing live streams.

  • Provide operational support of video transmission systems, including IP encoding, decoding, and other broadcast transmission related hardware.

  • Work with club audio/video staff on receiving proper production handoff, documenting production specifics, and tracking team centric requests for consumer facing live-stream

  • Monitor and verify nightly status of media pipelines for encoding distribution to MiLB.tv platform and streaming partners.

  • Provide necessary escalations and feedback to Media Technology, Enterprise Media and Broadcast Engineering teams.

  • Work with operations staff to generate nightly engineering reports and track relevant incidents.

  • Open, update, and close service tickets as necessary.

  • Perform regular sweeps of the entire MiLB.tv pipeline to identify issues and notify the stakeholders of faults and downstream impact.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to commute in office daily or possess a robust home internet connection

  • Competence with Mac and Windows Operating Systems.

  • Familiarity of IP Video Transport concepts.

  • Operational knowledge of video and audio production standards for live events

  • Experience with Elemental, Evertz, Ross, Sencore, Grass Valley, or equivalent Broadcast hardware manufacturers.

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is an hourly rate of $30.00 to $33.00. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
