Position Summary: This position serves as in-house senior designer, responsible for owning and developing design concepts for the Marketing department and any other internal department needing assistance, while maintaining the Lakers brand look and feel. Candidates should be able to design within an established brand identity system, while pushing the direction forward.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Develop innovative, best in class interactive brand design materials including website, app, print, and social media

  • Conceptualize and create beautiful design experiences across all fan touchpoints that take the Lakers brand identity to the next level

  • Elevate the Lakers brand experience through design-driven storytelling and creative problem-solving

  • Understand and implement the brand design system across a variety of marketing touchpoints, including but not limited to Lakers, South Bay Lakers, Lakers Gaming, and Laker Girls brands

  • Photograph and retouch/edit for all Lakers social accounts (document and post all aspects of game days and other events)

  • Ability to create animations/GIFs

  • Passion for emerging trends in the digital landscape (constantly exploring new ideas and trends in design, sports, and technology)

  • Serve needs of multiple departments while maintaining visual integrity of the brand

  • Assist with other special projects, as needed

Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelor’s degree in graphic design (required)

Previous Experience:

  • A minimum of 5+ years working in graphic design

  • Experience with photo editing and manipulation of graphics

Technology Capabilities:

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)

  • After Effects (a plus)

  • Create and post motion graphics (preferred)

Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team

  • You are upbeat in your work and have a strong positive attitude

  • Highly organized, resourceful, and can prioritize and multitask under the pressure of deadlines

  • Strong understanding of graphic design principles, methods and practices, as well as all phases of design, production, and delivery for print and digital materials

  • A fundamental understanding of typography, photography and layout for print and web

  • Knowledge of production for collateral including resolution, sizes, file types, and building final mechanical artwork (e.g. color correcting and create clipping paths to prepare files)

  • Ability to ensure consistent branding standards

  • Ability to give and take design direction and implement feedback/edits in a timely manner

  • Excellent grammatical, spelling, proofreading abilities

  • Able to come up with original ideas for designs, as well as integrate ideas from others

  • Knowledge of basketball (preferred)

  • Previous experience working with celebrities or professional sports players (preferred)

  • You continuously look for ways to improve and exceed expectations.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a min of 25lbs. and walk significant distances in arena on game days

Location: El Segundo, downtown Los Angeles ( Arena for Laker home games), and other occasional off-site events

Travel: Less than 10% of time

The pay range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
