JOB DESCRIPTION:

The LA Kings are seeking an experienced Sr. Manger, Graphic Design. The Sr. Manager, Graphic Design will collaborate with the Creative Director and other creative team members to drive the visual look and feel for the Kings brand. Daily tasks will include creating graphic content for a variety of platforms such as social media, email, mobile, digital media, brand campaigns, ticketing campaigns, merchandise, in-game and more. This individual will be tasked with establishing and maintaining a consistent brand identity and evolving that identity over time in partnership with the Creative Director. They will be confident in pushing creative boundaries where appropriate to strengthen the brand, brainstorming innovative design concepts, and fostering a culture of growth with more junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of sports and entertainment best practices, a proven track record of successful graphic design, and a deep knowledge of creative design trends in live events and the digital landscape. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced Sports/Entertainment environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Mentor graphic design staff to promote quality design, influence innovation and promote productivity

  • Create and deliver engaging visual assets by designing art and copy layouts for the LA Kings

  • Formulate design concepts, presentations, templates, layouts, merchandise, and social from initial idea to final execution

  • Partner with department leaders to strategize and develop methods to increase fan engagement and brand awareness on all platforms

  • Prioritize, filter and oversee workload from all departments in partnership with Creative Director and Project Specialist to ensure deadlines are being met

  • Partner with agencies and freelancers as assigned to help facilitate breakouts of agency work or freelance key art

  • Work closely with Project Specialist, marketing, sales teams, and other departments to understand and execute design briefings

  • Advise and train colleagues on brand guidelines, best practices, and emerging trends. Stay up to date on latest creative approaches – driving innovation for new approaches for the LA Kings brand.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

The Sr. Manager, Graphic Design must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:

  • Must submit strong portfolio showcasing current work

  • Working knowledge of sports, in-game, live entertainment technology, production, and ability to meet tight timelines

  • Proficiency and demonstrated mastery in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, social and web

  • Support and collaborate with creative design team members

  • Extremely detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment simultaneously contributing to multiple projects each with aggressive development schedules.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in project management software

  • Willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays based on events schedule

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Graphic Design, VFX, Motion Graphics or related field

Experience:

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of related work experience

  • Prior experience in sports, live events, and/or entertainment industry

  • Experience leading and training a team

  • Motion graphic experience is a plus

  • Cinema 4D of Equivalent experience is a plus
