The Kansas City Current are seeking an experienced transactional Paralegal that will draft, review and negotiate a multitude of transactional contracts, including but not limited to IT and SaaS vendor agreements, sponsorship agreements, suite license agreements, event license agreements and employment agreements and oversee and manage corporate documents and filings.


The ideal candidate is able to work independently and knows when to flag issues for further review, pays attention to detail, likes to move at a fast pace and is ready to apply fundamental understanding of transactional contract construction and concepts to the business of soccer.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Draft and review a multitude of commercial and vendor contracts, including specifically SAAS contracts, technology and software-based contracts, and other vendor and consulting agreements.

  • Manage and update contract forms library.

  • Draft and review event and sponsorship based-contracts, including suite agreements, event license agreements, private rentals and sponsorship agreements for the team, stadium and training center.

  • Draft and review standard agreements such as waivers, non-disclosure agreements, independent contractor agreements and employment agreements.

  • Assist with management of club’s trademark portfolio.

  • Manage insurance renewals and completing related applications.

  • Assist with club and league policy management, updates, and compliance.

  • Establish, maintain, and manage corporate documents and filings.

  • Manage general corporate housekeeping matters, e.g., maintenance of corporate records and minute books.

  • Perform clerical duties, as needed.

  • Assist with other matters as requested by attorney, including due diligence activities and performing legal research.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating information technology vendor contracts regarding the use of software, personally identifiable data, subscription databases and marketing technology.

  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods and other related matters.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skill a must.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Adobe to create legal redlines and blacklines.

  • Experience in creating and managing document management system.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, including calendar management and Microsoft Teams.

  • Experience in construction and on-site service agreements a plus.

  • Real estate or finance experience a plus.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgement.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate.

  • 5-10 years of previous experience as a paralegal.

  • Preferred candidate will have law firm experience or in-house experience.

  • Experience thriving in cross-functional environments.

  • Ability to work on several different projects and meet critical deadlines.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Quick and self-motivated learner.

  • Able to effectively manage time and priorities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking long distance.

  • Must be able to lift up-to 25 pounds at a time.
