The Indiana Pacers are hiring a Part-Time Writer to join our Digital Marketing team. We are looking for a strong writer with a passion for basketball that will help take our digital channels to the next level! You will be responsible for writing various posts for the team website and your work will be featured across the Pacers digital channels. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking and motivated individual who can work independently, collaborate with the team, meet deadlines, and help the Pacers reach fans across the globe.


  • Write game previews and recaps for

  • Pitch and write feature stories and blog posts

  • Attend and cover select practices and home games

  • Interview players, coaches, and staff members during media availabilities

  • Assist with offseason coverage of the WNBA’s Indiana Fever for

  • Collaborate with Digital team on content planning and storytelling

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Outstanding attention to detail and excellent written communication skills are required. Ability to write and edit written content with a quick turnaround. Ability to follow direction and maintain appropriate editorial tone for team channels.

  • Background in journalism or related field. Ability to remain professional when interacting with NBA players, coaches, and other personnel.

  • Available to work on-site on Pacers home games and remotely for road games, including late evening hours. Available to attend and cover practices and community events, including weekdays and weekends.

  • Provide past writing sample examples.

  • Excellent organization, communication, and planning skills.

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and multi-task.

  • Knowledge of the Pacers and the NBA

  • Any Adobe Photoshop and/or Wordpress experience is a plus

  • Part-time hourly paid position: 20-30 hours/week
