The mission of the Houston Texans Draft Class program is to provide chosen future sports professionals the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the professional sports industry through exposure throughout the Houston Texans organization. The chosen future sports professional will make meaningful contributions to Houston Texans business and/or football operations through in-depth meaningful curriculum and experiences.

Basic Function: Assist the Community Development and Foundation staff with events and all other department responsibilities.

Job Function (Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Assist Community Development staff on events and gameday initiatives related to the following NFL platforms: Breast Cancer Awareness, Military Appreciation, PLAY 60, My Cause My Cleats and Inspire Change.

  • Execute gameday recognitions and features, such as the Salute to Service Moment.

  • Monitor community section of the Houston Texans website and make updates as needed.

  • Attend and participate in weekly Community Development staff meetings; produce agenda for weekly meeting.

  • Maintain organization within player appearance request inbox and voicemail. Respond to requests in a timely manner, handling each request with respect and referring fan to other solutions when necessary.

  • Maintain organization within donation request inbox and voicemail. Respond to requests in a timely manner, handling each request with respect and referring fan to other solutions when necessary.

  • Track donations each month; fulfilling select number of donations as indicated by community relations and foundation director and contacting all donation requestors.

  • Assist with the coordination of all Community Development events including charitable drives and player appearances.

  • Assist Foundation personnel with special events and projects program implementation where needed. ·

  • Assist Community Development team with creation of annual Community Impact Report and Houston Texans Foundation annual recap.

  • Assist with coordination of interdepartmental autograph sessions.

  • Fulfill departmental administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the executive team, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Director of Community Development, Director of Community Relations, Director of Community Fundraising, Community Relations Coordinator or other departmental staff members.

  • Position requires routine face-to-face personal interaction with other Club personnel; therefore, job responsibilities must be physically performed in the Club offices and not in a telecommuting manner.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communications.

  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and to produce high-quality work in accordance with directions given.

  • Ability to maintain confidential and/or proprietary information.

  • Display strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain solid working relationships.

  • Exhibit professional approach to customer service.

Supervisory Duties: N/A

Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel related to Community Development events required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university preferred.

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Non-profit or community service experience strongly preferred.

  • Event experience strongly preferred.
