Summary/Objective

The Houston Astros are currently seeking a Player Development Manager in the Baseball Operations Department.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Facilitate onboarding new player development staff.

  • Manage duties and responsibilities of apprentices within the player development department.

  • Assist staff and players with the understanding and implementation of systems, technologies, and tools.

  • Be a resource to players and staff about program initiatives.

  • Filter player development needs to respective departments.

  • Collaborate with departments to help identify and act on solutions for opportunities of growth.

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations at various minor league locations.

  • Assist in minor league roster management.

  • Assist in minor league player goal tracking.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • Experience working in a professional environment for at least 2 years

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Work experience in collegiate/professional sports is a plus

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

  • Experience with SQL is a plus.

Work Environment

Position will work in an office and baseball field (both indoors and outdoors). This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud/excessive within the stadium environment.

This role will require the individual to be physically moving for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel is expected for this position.
