The people who work off-track are as important to Formula 1 as those behind the wheel. As TV Compound Infrastructure Manager, managing the team to deliver, and enhance, the International TV Compound facilities and operations for F1’s Rights Holding Broadcasters, you could be one of them!
Reporting into the Circuit Engineering Team Manager based at our Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill, you will:
Manage the Team to deliver infrastructure and operation of F1’s Host TV Compound, from liaising with international broadcasters to ascertain their requirements, to engaging suppliers and designing layouts.
Project Manage and undertake planning for broadcaster infrastructure and services.
Manage the delivery of facilities and services in the TV Compound for F1’s accredited broadcasters at designated F1 Host events.
Oversee the delivery of the TV Compound by other Host Broadcasters where appropriate.
Drive processes and procedures to increase efficiencies and performance.
Engage with key internal stakeholders to plan, improve and deliver new services for both Technical (TV Eng, IT/Comms, Distribution, Electrical Power) and Logistical/Operational (Media Rights, BCL, Security, Freight) areas.
Work with both internal and external parties to plan and implement Sustainability activities in alignment with the Company’s strategy.
Working on site with freight providers and technical delivery partners to facilitate the smooth running of the Broadcasters’ logistical operation.
Maintain the TV Compound Health and Safety standards at all times.
Oversee the set up and running of the Commentary Booths, antenna farms and other infrastructure for Broadcasters at F1 Host events.
Coordinate the relationship between on site broadcasters and other F1 departments where needed, such as Paddock Management or Production.
Assist with the preparation and issuing of all documentation pertaining to F1’s technical and logistical TV compound obligations at Formula 1 events, including the Host Broadcaster Operation Manual and the General Specification Manual.
Manage the annual budget process for the TV Compound and monitor the expenditure and income race-by-race. Including reporting and working closely with the BRE Project Coordinator and Finance.
Work closely with Circuit Engineering team and New Circuits on the planning and provision of critical facilities for F1’s accredited broadcasters, including the TV Compound, Commentary Booths, antenna farms, cable routes, power etc.
Monitor and report on work undertaken within the team and report to Head of Race Engineering and Infrastructure.
Team
Manage, lead and inspire Team members (both staff and contractors).
Lead by example and hold regular 121 meetings with each team member (staff and contractors), setting and reviewing personal objectives.
In conjunction with Team Leader/HoD review and progress recruitment, evaluation including annual bonuses, salary reviews and promotions, training, staff motivation and development in line with company policies and procedures.
With BRE Project Coordinator, plan departments travel and rota for attendance of recces and races.
In conjunction with the HoD, define, oversee and review team objectives.
Lead and execute the growth and maturity of the team with an agenda of a highly motivated and performing coordinators.
Hold regular department meetings, and encourage effective communication throughout the department.
Specification:
Proven experience working in live events and/or broadcast
Managing and Lead person for delivery of TV broadcast infrastructure and services
Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite
Project Management experience – planning, delivery and monitoring of scope/obligations
The ability to resolve conflicts and operational difficulties in a calm and diplomatic manner
Budget Planning and Forecasting
Good procedure and process skills to develop existing and implement new workflows
Excellent attention to detail
Fully conversant with H&S regulations as they pertain to temporary structures, plant operations, fire and electrical safety
EU driving license with experience driving abroad
Ability to travel
