About The Role

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Podcast Production

  • Identifying editorial lines and angles, and planning episodes

  • Identifying and booking contributors

  • Recording audio content – including full episodes and audio features

  • Audio post-production for release, ensuring the highest technical quality and compliance with F1 policies, style and tone

  • Managing editing work done by external partners and/or freelance producers

  • Commissioning visual elements of podcasts including episode artwork and video

  • Ensuring our commercial commitments are met – including producing live read adverts and branded content

  • Writing episode titles and descriptions

  • Working with social media, video and F1.com teams to create companion/promotional content

Podcast administration

  • Recording scheduling and logistics – including arranging recording sessions, ensuring contributors have the required equipment and briefing materials

  • Providing regular performance reports and data to internal teams

  • Music and archive reporting

  • Overseeing contractor payments and contracts as needed

Editorial workflow

  • Providing publishing updates to social, video and F1.com team, to ensure promotion of episodes

  • Maintaining content calendar, as well as contributing to a content plan around key moments throughout the F1 season

  • Communicating with broader marketing, social, f1.com and video teams as appropriate to align on overall narrative plans, approaches and targets

  • Providing regular updates to Lead Podcast Editor

About You

  • Degree-educated or equivalent

  • Prior experience in sports media is not essential, but the successful candidate will have deep knowledge and understanding of Formula 1 and motorsport

  • Experience audio production experience in commissioned podcasting or radio, ideally in long-form content including interviews, documentaries and features

  • Self-starter, with outstanding communication and organisational skills

  • Working understanding of broadcast media law

  • Experience using audio recording equipment and remote recording systems

  • Sharp, clear writing for audio broadcast. Fluent spoken and written English

  • Research, fact-checking and brief-writing

  • Identifying and booking contributors

  • Strong eye and ear for detail, journalistic experience or instinct to identify stories which will engage F1 fans around the world

  • Audio post-production: excellent multi-track editing and mixing/mastering skills are essential. Experience of Adobe Audition an advantage

About The Company

Formula 1 is looking for an experienced audio producer to join our podcast team, working on F1 Beyond The Grid, F1 Nation and future podcast projects.

Reporting to the Lead Podcast Editor, the Podcast Producer will be responsible for audio editing, script-writing, episode planning and other production and administrative tasks related to F1 Podcasts.

This is a hands-on role in a small team. The successful candidate will be involved in every step of the production process – from developing original ideas, to audio recording, post-production editing, episode release, and promotion.

Creating great audio will be the Producer’s focus, but they will also have experience and understanding of other digital mediums including social media, video and web articles.

The Producer will also have one eye on the future, with creative, original ideas for new podcast concepts, formats, features and innovations.
