To coordinate a risk-free, safe, and secure environment on each shift through the monitoring of all safety and security systems used at the venue command center. The dispatching of personnel, maintaining of accurate logs, checklists, etc. all contribute to the effectiveness of the team and are required job functions of the part-time event dispatcher colleague. The event dispatch is the nucleus of safety and security operations for all Ilitch Sports + Entertainment events. The entire team is dependent on the accuracy of information and the monitoring of all safety and security systems that dispatch is responsible for.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the command center personnel and other security personnel to ensure the security and safety of all of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment operated venues, colleagues, guests, and patrons.

  • Proactively monitor (audibly patrol) various radio channels throughout an event.

  • Maintain an accurate record of start/stop times of all activities through Incident Management System; contact the proper personnel in the event of emergency or unusual events/calls. Record various incidents/work orders with additional software.

  • Dispatch appropriate colleagues in a professional, timely, and efficient manner at all times.

  • Be fully knowledgeable in all emergency plans to ensure proper dispatching of personnel.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Possess a high school diploma

  • Must pass background check

  • Comfortable dispatching over an 800 MHz radio system during stressful situations

  • Proficient at multi-tasking

  • Computer literate

Desired Experience:

  • 2-3 years of public safety (police, fire, and/or medical) dispatching experience.

  • Previous dispatching experience (event-related or law enforcement preferred).

  • Law enforcement dispatch related certifications (suicide intervention, hostage negotiation, domestic violence intervention, etc.) a plus.

  • Previous experience with incident management and/or work order software.
