We are excited to hire a temporary Turf & Grounds staff member to assist our Training Center Sports Turf & Grounds and Stadium Turf department. This position will assist with the maintenance of the landscape, grounds, and sports fields at the UC Health Training Center. The Turf staff will also support Stadium Turf department during gameday preparations and operations. This position will assist with ensuring property is of the highest quality regarding safety, functionality, and aesthetics.
Responsibilities Include: Assist the Grounds Coordinator and crew with the maintenance and upkeep of the UC Health Training Center property by:
Landscape Maintenance
Working daily with Grounds Coordinator to ensure landscapes are in accordance with organizational expectations
Executing daily plans for the maintenance and upkeep of the UCHTC property, including but not limited to all fine turf areas, native grass areas, planting beds, trees, and shrubs
Performing industry standard cultural practices to included: mowing, irrigation use, fertility programs, fungicide and herbicide applications, seasonal renovations, over-seeding, pesticide applications, etc.
Assisting in the maintenance of all equipment, materials and supplies required for all landscape operations
Providing input to department staff members on landscape needs and maintenance requirements
Site and Grounds
Providing support for all snow removal operations on property
Assisting in the maintenance of all equipment, materials, and supplies required for snow removal operations
Performing regular upkeep on all drainage areas, including detention ponds and sediment basins
Working with department staff in the execution of various onsite projects
Ensuring property is in a safe, functional, and presentable manner for all users and visitor
Assist the Sports Turf Manager with the maintenance and upkeep off all sports turf playing surfaces at the UC Health Training Center by:
Performing industry standard cultural practices to included: mowing, irrigation use, fertility programs, fungicide and herbicide applications, seasonal renovations, over-seeding, pesticide applications, etc.
Operating equipment associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the playing field surfaces
Assisting in the painting of all playing field surfaces as needed
Aiding in playing field setup for team practices and/or special events
Assist the Stadium Turf Department with gameday preparation and gameday operations by:
Assisting with gameday painting and field preparation
Performing gameday responsibilities as defined by Stadium Turf Department staff
Assisting with all field tarping procedures
Aiding with field renovations and special events as needed
Requirements:
Completion of high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must work flexible hours including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays
Preferred expectations:
College-level coursework preferred
Excellent work ethic and professionalism
Experience operating industry standard equipment
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Works well in a team setting
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to utilize smart phone
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Must have ability to maintain confidentiality
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected hourly rate will be $19.29. This position will work about 40 hours a week with overtime needed during busy times. This is a temporary position lasting from hire through the 2023 football season.
This position will be located at the Training Center in Englewood, CO from hire through August and the Stadium for the 2023 football season. This role must be available for a flexible schedule and to work Broncos game weekends and nights/weekends as needed.
