D.C. United are looking for an experienced, organized, collaborative, and energized content team leader to join the Communications and Content Team.
This individual will work cross functionally to cultivate innovative ideas for video and photo production and content development that amplifies the club’s brand and core values. This person is a seasoned videographer and video editor, bonafied storyteller, pre/post-production master and not afraid to shoot either.
The ideal candidate is passionate about running a team, pushing the creative boundaries of video and photo production, and has an eye for unique content that resonated with fans.
The Director of Content will also be tasked with supporting the storytelling and content management for the Audi Field brand in addition to D.C. United.
Video reel or samples of work are required to be submitted.
What You Will Do
As the Director of Content, you will be responsible for the management and technical decisions related to all content (photo and video)
Collaborate with the club’s Lead Designers to establish visual guidelines that will unify the team’s brand image through content
Oversee narrative development of all video content with advanced scripting, storyboarding, and editing skills
Develop strong content pipeline process to effectively manage all pre-pro, shoot, and postproduction team needs
Lead day-to-day management of video production for all club channels, working closely with the rest of the communications, content, and marketing department to manage videographers schedule to ensure that resources are being dedicated to the club’s highest priorities
Oversee the club’s content management system and ensure best practices are in place
Lead a team of videographers with sound storytelling acumen, inspirational and collaborative leadership, and exceptional communication skills
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment working on multiple projects at a time while remaining calm and collected
Supervise, evaluate, and mentor current department staff and external contractors
Shoot, produce, and edit content both by yourself and as a member of the team
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends for matchdays
Your Background, Skills and Qualifications
5-7+ years’ experience in similar field of work
Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferably in film, broadcasting, marketing, or a similar field
2+ years of managerial and project managerial experience
Exceptional cinematographer and video production skills
Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing in Adobe Premier
Strong technical understanding of video production equipment
Advanced use of Adobe After Effects and knowledge of 3D programs is a plus
Knowledgeable in all areas of video production, including lighting, sound, motion graphics, color correction, and publishing
Graphic design skills required (Adobe Photoshop)
Live stream set-up and execution experience
Experience with content management systems
Willingness to travel to support content team throughout the system
Full vaccination against COVID-19 required
Bonus Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish preferable)
Professional sport experience
Soccer fandom and familiarity with the sport globally
Experience in sports, particularly soccer, preferred, but not required

Must have a strong command of reasoned, measured decision-making based upon analyzing the pros and cons of each potential decision to be made
