Reporting into the CFO the Head of IT will take on full responsibility for the management of the IT provision throughout the business. This will include managing and liaising with any outsourced IT providers.

You will be responsible for…

Strategic planning/management

  • Provide expert knowledge, experience and an innovative approach to support and develop the IT strategy for the club.

  • Provide expert knowledge and leadership, training and coaching to the IT team (this includes the outsourced external consultants)

  • Provide proactive comprehensive solution orientated support to the Senior Leadership Team, Managers, and employees on all IT matters.

Operational support

  • Continually review technical developments to ensure where feasible that efficiency is achieved.

  • To be responsible for the operational, strategic planning and provision of resource for the delivery of projects and support across the organisation.

  • Work alongside the third party providers in order to ensure the IT deliverables are met.

  • Delivery of projects, both technical and applications, on time and on budget in line with business requirements.

  • Oversee all IT related purchasing, budget preparation and monitoring with support from Finance.

  • Keep pace with legislation to ensure compliance in all areas including Data Protection in liaison with the organisation, and particularly with the dedicated Data Protection Officer.

  • Contract Management of third parties, reviewing contracts and ensuring services are fit for purpose.

  • Ensure compliance of Premier League IT requirements

  • Understand the club's Cyber Security, review and plan for continuous improvements. Be a single point of contact for all Cyber Security incidents.

  • Presenting IT department status and project progress in regular management meetings

  • Running tenders for discrete IT projects and procurement projects

  • Understanding the club's infrastructure, all service it uses and who these are contracted with

  • Understanding of network environment, management of third party requirements, including those required by the Premier League, to ensure network performance remains unaffected.

  • Maintaining IT documentation

  • Creating and updating a three-year IT plan

  • Maintaining and eliminating any cables / wires that are visible

  • Implementing process and procedure to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery

People management

  • Actively participate in the management team

  • Interface with staff and managers to ensure IT service delivery, communicating project status.

  • Run and be involved in project management meetings for IT and IT involvement in other projects.

  • Be responsible for the IT team and the management/ liaison of the outsourced provision.

  • Support on ad-hoc projects

  • Available to provide remote support to directors and Chairman 24/7

  • Available on all match days to receive calls and escalate where required

  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager

  • Upholding and promoting the club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

  • A proven track record in IT management, graduate calibre with appropriate IT or business professional qualification

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Analytical mind with aptitude in data analytics

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Evidence of strong inclusive team working approach and understanding of and ability to work with non IT staff to translate organisation and customer needs into successful service delivery.

  • Experience of managing third party supplier relationships


  • Working Knowledge of Prince ll / project management

  • Knowledge of ITIL v3
