PRIMARY PURPOSE: Contribute to the Communications Department overall strategy by creating and developing content to promote and communicate player development activities, including managing/producing minor league player social media/digital content, tracking minor league player performance to contribute to game notes and produce regular e-newsletters. Act as a relationship builder within the entire player development system to effectively execute content creation needs. Role also supports Major League level content creation as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Responsible for capturing and developing unique and engaging content focused on minor league players– including photos, video and graphic creation for use on social channels aligned with Guardians’ brand
Partner with Content Creation Specialist to execute comprehensive social media strategies focused on player development system across platforms including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Medium (blog platform) and TikTok. Strategies should be focused on increasing brand recognition, loyalty and achieving clearly defined goals for social media platforms.
Assist and support Content Creation Specialist with daily monitoring and posting of content on all Major and Minor League social media platforms, to track negative and positive comments and respond when necessary.
Gather learnings and insight from performance monitoring to ensure continual improvement of content across social channels
Ownership of the day-to-day execution of minor league player social media/digital content, minor league games notes and e-newsletters
Manage quick turnaround times and deadlines of in-game content for use on social channels
Manage content and distribution of daily minor league report covering all affiliates within the organization to promote player development system.
Collaborate with Communications department to brainstorm, research and develop new content ideas of assigned areas to ensure content is engaging and evolving
Support daily online efforts with content on cleguardians.com, regular minor league e-newsletters and Guards Post blog.
Monitor social media trends and content innovations to ensure Guardians social media accounts are incorporating best practices in content generation, and to ensure that content is relevant and appealing.
Establish and maintain collaborative, productive working relationship with player development and baseball operations to ensure content is arranged, captured, and delivered as necessary
Support Baseball Information, Player Engagement, and Family Relations teams as available and needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
3-5 years of experience in a PR related role working with high-profile individuals, preferably collegiate and/or professional athletes and coaches.
Bachelor's Degree required in Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
Experience building relationships and demonstrated ability to build a community contact network.
Advanced comprehension of environmental factors impacting news/social media today.
Experience in running social media platforms for an organization/brand.
Previous experience in photography, videography and graphic design preferred.
Robust knowledge of Cleveland baseball, past and present or ability/desire to gain knowledge
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe software & various social media platforms
