PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Hot Dog Mascots are responsible for entertaining fans at each Cleveland Guardians home game by running the hot dog derby, performing choreographed routines and skits, appearing in video features, taking photos with fans and simply entertaining Guardians fans whenever possible. The Hot Dog Mascots will also attend Cleveland Guardians special in-park and off-site events, including corporate, community and marketing events.

All applicants for employment with the Cleveland Guardians will need to comply with the Cleveland Guardians Vaccination Policy as a condition of employment. Potential candidates for employment will be notified of the requirements of this policy prior to the start of employment.


Assist the Manager of Live Experience, Mascot Coordinator, and Entertainment Coordinator with the execution of all in-park and outside entertainment:

  • Participation in trainings pertaining to public health and appropriate public health-related protocols.

  • Perform as Hot Dog costumed characters for home games and off-site appearances

  • Greet and interact with fans and general public, displaying high-energy while keeping the character and persona of the mascot

  • Perform in pre-game, in-game and post-game entertainment activities, contests, promotions, skits, routines and special appearances

  • Attend rehearsals and performance training sessions as assigned

  • Run in the Hot Dog Derby

  • Perform as ancillary costumed characters for corporate partner activations as needed

  • Work minimum of 60 home game dates (including weekends and holidays, plus all potential pre-season and post-season home game dates and events as assigned)

  • Work off-season/winter events as assigned

  • Represent the Guardians at community and corporate appearances as assigned

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Live Experience, Mascot Coordinator and Entertainment Coordinator


  • Previous experience in a mascot role

  • Ability to obtain and perform rehearsed/choreographed routines


  • Must work minimum of 60 home games

  • Must be available for weekend home games

  • Must have a flexible schedule and ability to work extended days and hours

  • Must be available to work outside appearances on non-game days

  • Must work a minimum of 1-2 volunteer events throughout the season


  • Must be able to effectively communicate using only body gestures

  • Must be able to work in a costume and develop the character and persona of the mascot

  • Must have a creative, ambitious, energetic personality with the ability to motivate others

  • Must be comfortable in an enclosed space with various costume designs

  • Must be available to work outside appearances on non-game days

  • Express an outgoing, athletic, high-energy, cheerful demeanor in all situations

  • Ability to follow directions and adjust on the fly

  • Cardio/respiratory endurance between 400-800 meters (running skills will be tested)

  • Candidates for driving Guardians’ promotional team vehicle must be over 21 years of age

  • General knowledge of the game of baseball is preferred


  • Reads, speaks, comprehends, and communicates English effectively in all communications.

  • Represents the Cleveland Guardians in a positive fashion to all business partners and the general public.

  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with members of the Front Office.
