PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the Retail Ballpark Manager in overseeing the daily operations (game day and non-game day) of all Progressive Field retail souvenir stands to maximize sales revenue and promote a positive image of the Cleveland Guardians organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Retail Assistant Manager in Training will be knowledgeable in the following areas:
Selling/Fan Satisfaction
Drive merchandise stand sales results.
Role Model START AND HEART service model and suggestive selling for retail gameday teammate.
Maintain the “Image of Champions” to maximize sales opportunities and ensure fan satisfaction.
Daily tracking and planning of sales.
Utilize and analyze game day sales reports.
Human Resources
Assist in hiring, training, and developing retail gameday teammate.
Work to keep store team engaged via sales contest planning and execution
Merchandising
Ensure stand appearance and stockrooms are organized and maintained to Company standards
Assure recovery (re-stocking, sizing, “pinch & pull”, general cleanliness).
Assure markdowns are completed timely and accurately (including stockroom).
Based on research, communicate merchandising needs/opportunities to Retail Ballpark Manager
Operations/Loss Prevention
Assist in the proper scheduling of store teammates to support the needs of the business.
Assist in the Control of the budget for payroll, based on sales and trends.
Assist in managing controllable operational expenses (supplies, maintenance, etc.)
Understand and perform all management functions on the POS system, backroom PC and Chaindrive.
Inventory Control (receiving, product distribution, transfers, cycle counts, damages, MOSs, yearend physical inventory).
Understanding of internal/external loss prevention methods.
Oversee closing and banking procedures for all retail souvenir locations.
Prepare stands for the season and take down at the end of the season.
Additional projects/responsibilities as assigned by the Retail Ballpark Manager
DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Desire for a career in retail management
Computer knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.
Proficient management and planning skills
Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
Robust communication skills
Effective communication with both co-workers and guests.
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and lifting.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Required to work a minimum of 85% of all home baseball games based on job responsibilities and workload.
Game-day hour requirement: minimum of 2.5 hours prior to gates open and 1-hour post game as dictated by job responsibilities and workload (limited to no more than 40 hours per week).
Non-game-day hours should be compliant with front office hours, working up to 5 days and 40 hours per week, based on job responsibilities and workload.
