The Cincinnati Bengals are seeking a highly motivated Director of Accounting to join its growing team. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of key accounting, reporting and financial analysis functions to drive profitable growth. This position will own the quarterly and year-end close process to ensure timely, accurate and informative financial reporting to help management make strategic decisions. The Director of Accounting will report to and work closely with the CFO in addition to collaborating with other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Own the quarterly and year-end close process to ensure timely, accurate and informative financial reporting to aid management with key business decisions.
Manage the annual audit process ensuring a successful and on-time issuance of the financial statements with zero adjustments.
Ensure that proper SOPs and Control documents are present, up to date and properly reflect the methods being used to support our accounting environment.
Lead and coordinate the automation of the Team’s Accounts Payable function.
Assist with FP&A to uncover actionable insights that drive the improvement of financial performance of the Team.
Perform monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts as well as multiple bank and investment accounts.
Develop and own a thorough understanding of league reporting and participate in preparation and submittal of league reports.
Partner with Corporate Tax Manager to ensure compliance and timely filings for all tax returns.
Research, interpret, and communicate appropriate accounting policies for complex accounting transactions.
Complete special reports and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Strong understanding of US GAAP, CPA preferred but not required.
5-10 years of relevant experience
Experience in industry is preferred with familiarity of accounting within college or professional sports a plus.
Demonstrate a passion for learning and strive for continued growth to add value to the organization.
Understand the importance of reporting relevant and accurate information while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and some accounting software / ERP systems experience is desired.
