The Chicago Red Stars is looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, and conscientious sports science professional to assist with optimizing performance for our dynamic winning team! Reports to the High-Performance Director.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Collaborate with Technical, Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning staff, and the Fitness & Rehab Coach in designing and administering individualized pre-training protocols, in-season technical sessions, and recovery
Assist with all pre-practice setup, warm-up, and additional activities in conjunction with the needs of the coaching staff, Athletic Training, and High-Performance Director
Manage all in-training GPS tagging and post-session uploading of training sessions, and the matching and individualization of data
Collaborate and communicate with the Technical staff and the High-Performance Director on activation, regeneration, and individualized fitness sessions during travel and away matches
Assist the High-Performance Director with all individualized on-field activities
Liaise and implement relevant technology in conjunction with Athletic Training, medical staff, and Strength & Conditioning for early, mid, and end-stage required rehab sessions
Educate and counsel players and staff regarding strategies to enhance performance and fitness load management
Oversee, design, and implement weight room technology data in conjunction with the High-Performance Director
Evaluate player performance through performance testing, workload monitoring, and other anthropometric assessments alongside the High-Performance Director
Review sports science data and provide data-driven feedback to players
Maintain the aesthetics and upkeep of equipment and Red Stars facilities
Attend all relevant team and staff meetings and participate in required activities, meetings, and programs
Deliver daily data reports to organizational partners
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/Sports Science field required. Master in Exercise Science/Sports Science preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of professional or college experience, preferably in the NWSL, MLS, USL, or other elite-level organizations
Certified Performance and Sports Scientist (CPSS) certification by NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) or equivalent credentials
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Experience in utilizing sports science technologies such as GPS, Velocity Based Training Systems, Heart Rate Monitoring, and Load Management Systems
Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate with diverse audiences using a variety of interpersonal skills, methods, and media
Proficiency in Microsoft and Apple applications, data visualization platforms, knowledge of current technologies, and commitment to remaining current with industry best practices
High ability to exercise sound tact, judgment, and discretion
