Chicago Fire Football Club is a Major League Soccer team that was founded in 1997 and is Chicago’s ambassador to the global sport of soccer. The Club recently returned to Soldier Field as well as opened a new 50,000 square foot office in the heart of the city. Position Overview:

Chicago Fire Football Club is seeking a dedicated Academy Technical Director join our team! The Academy Technical Director will report into the Sporting Director and will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support for Academy programming, including coach development and education, player evaluations, team training, and skill sessions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the coaching direction of the Club for the academy and youth programs, establishing preferred coaching methods and guiding coaching staff to uphold the integrity of the curriculum

  • Provide strategic leadership to build and develop the coaching and operations staff to support the needs of the Academy

  • Oversee the Academy’s coaching and operational staff

  • Recruit and retain players and staff that lead to the Academy’s successful and sustained performance to achieve overall objects

  • Develop and implement a successful player and coaching recruitment and retention strategy, identifying effective players and maintaining a strong understanding of relevant League rules that pertain to Academy operations

  • Develop and maintain ties to Chicagoland and Milwaukee youth football clubs, leagues, and key stakeholders

  • Achieve the Academy goal of developing players that embody the club’s culture and are actively striving toward playing for the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro and MLS teams

  • Ensure the optimal development and promotion of all activities, services, and programs while building the profile of the Academy

  • Participate in promotional, sponsorship, and public relations activities requested by the Club including, but not limited to games, clinics, speeches, interviews, photo sessions, public appearances, and television, radio, and internet programs featuring the Team or Academy players

  • Establish and maintain policies, systems, processes, and practices to ensure sustainable and world-class business practices

  • Adhere to, support, and ensure compliance with the Club and League’s policies

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the media, sponsors, fans, supporters, and stakeholders

  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible work environment that aligns with Chicago Fire FC’s values

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of club management and/or director of coaching experience in an elite academy environment

  • USSF A License or equivalent foreign coaching licensure

  • Certification as a Learning Facilitator, or equivalent experience to effectively oversee coach education programming plus a willingness to work towards becoming certified

  • Strong knowledge of talent identification and talent development

  • Comprehensive understanding of MLS NEXT rules and regulations

  • Ability to coach, teach, lead, and prepare youth athletes for success in an elite environment.

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to meet firm deadlines

  • Strong time management and project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel as needed

  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19
