The Senior Manager of Basketball Communications will work on all day-to-day operations within the basketball communications department. Reporting to the Director of Basketball Communications, this role requires the ability to effectively lead projects that achieve team and department goals, develop positive relationships with local and national media members, and strong written skills with excellent basketball knowledge. This person should have a strong understanding of and excel within a fast-paced and collaborative environment with experience working in sports.

In this role, you will support the director and department with a variety of tasks and responsibilities including the following:
Help lead and coordinate all team media availabilities: practices, shootarounds, pre- and postgame, press conferences, etc.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with local, national and international media members and have the ability to respond quickly to all media requests
Assist in managing all media requests (local, regional and national) for players, coaches and basketball executives
Lead and assist as needed in the composition and research of team statistical information and talking points (media guides, postseason guides, and game notes)
Ability to write and edit press releases, and other written communications
Aid in the planning of all press conferences and media gatherings
Travel with the team, handling all interview and appearance requests within that market
Lead one department team member and assist in handling game-night media relations staffing, set-up and services
Support the director with all credential requests and implementing processes
Help lead team publicity surrounding annual basketball events: NBA Draft, NBA Summer League, Training Camp, etc.
Work with NBA PR as needed in regards to media requests, media operations, etc.
Work with the Bulls Content team to help create content opportunities for the team's digital/social channels; Assist in facilitating/coordinating any internal requests
Help promote the Chicago Bulls brand through organized media efforts both proactive and reactive
A strong candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who works well across departments and has direct experience in communications. In addition, you will have the following:
Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in the communications field, preferably in Public Relations/Media Relations
Able to multi-task under time constraints, meet tight deadlines and work within a fast-paced industry/environment
Previous experience working with athletes preferred
Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
Proven experience as a direct supervisor to full time staff
Demonstrate knowledge of premier traditional and social media outlets, local and national
Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in PR, including digital media/social media
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to present ideas effectively both verbally and in written form
Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary team
Ability to form and maintain relationships with internal and external parties, including building rapport, trust and confidence with key partners
Commitment to personal integrity and strong work ethic – flexible and can roll up their sleeves to get the job done
Note that this role requires flexible work hours and will include work outside of normal office hours during the business week, weekends, and holidays. It also requires travel with the team to games, Summer League, etc.
