The Director, Inclusion and Belonging will develop and implement the organization’s diversity and inclusion initiatives and strategies to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplace. The role serves as the primary subject matter expert and architect of the organization’s diversity and cross-cultural relations plans. The position oversees the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of such initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Researches, develops, recommends, and executes creative strategies to foster the organization’s diversity and inclusion goals and objectives.
Collaborates with and supports Human Resources team to review current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which the organization supports or hinders diversity goals and/or objectives.
Leads and liaises with the organization’s employee resource groups (ERG).
Has overall responsibility for diversity and cross-cultural efforts, collaborating with management, ownership, and the community for initiatives and programs.
Supports and assists with recruiting and hiring strategies to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
Develops, acquires, and facilitates training and development opportunities that fosters and progresses inclusion and belonging best practices that support retention efforts.
Provides insights and guidance to human resources staff and leadership in developing objective performance metrics and other employee evaluations and policies.
Serves as company liaison with National Football League (NFL) and Major League Soccer (MLS) and agencies concerning equal employment opportunities and DEI initiatives.
Identifies and cultivates relationships with external organizations that are potential sources of diverse talent, best practices, tools, and resources to enhance the inclusion of our workforce.
Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and incorporates best practices as appropriate.
Provides training and policy updates as appropriate to ensure compliance across the organization.
Directs the design of and engages in platform training and direct development of online training programs on both diversity and cross-cultural awareness.
Maintains metrics and prepares periodic reports for senior management for evaluating/measuring diversity and cross-cultural resource initiatives for return on investment.
Develops coaching strategies, implements dialogues that address specific concerns and issues, and oversees resolution of conflicts/disputes relating to diversity and/or cross- cultural initiatives and activities.
Creates instruments linking diversity and cross-cultural awareness to the organization's performance management processes and the business plan.
Collaboration with the broader HR team to assist with various projects and initiatives as needed.
Management of the DEI budget
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in developing solutions and implementing strategies with focus on diversity and cross-cultural resource efforts in an organization with diverse constituencies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including proven dispute resolution skills.
Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local equal employment opportunity laws and regulations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
At least five years of Human Resources or related experience required with at least three years specializing in equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and diversity programs.
Multilingual verbal and written skills in English and Española languages preferred.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
