Reporting to the Senior Manager, Catering & Events, the Events Coordinator, Catering will be primarily responsible for organizing all details relating to catering events and providing administrative support on behalf of and as a supporting representative of the Senior Manager, Catering & Events, while maintaining a superior level of service and quality in a fast-paced atmosphere that ensures the core values of Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation for all customers and staff are met.


  • Responsible for coordinating, processing and finalizing all details relating to Catering business.

  • Assist clients in menu planning, coordinating food and beverage, meeting room setup, décor, audio/visual and other services as requested by the client.

  • Ensure that all client requirements are effectively communicated internally and completed to meet client expectations.

  • Coordinate communication between clients and staff to ensure smooth and successful handling of all events.

  • Responsible for processing function deposits, correspondence with clients from initial contact to follow up, file management and other duties as deemed necessary by the Senior Manager, Catering.

  • Perform venue site inspections with clients.

  • Negotiate food and beverage prices, meeting room rental, function space, and venue services within approved guidelines.

  • Assist with preparation of proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, function reports, floorplans, and other documents as required.

  • Processes internal events delivered through RedPlate online ordering.

  • Provides administrative support for the department.

  • Assist with administrative duties related to the implementation of VenueOps system within the Catering department.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • A post-secondary education focused on Hospitality Management or Business Management, or a combination of education and experience would be ideal;

  • Must possess valid Alberta Basic Food Safety Certification;

  • Must possess a valid ProServe Certification;

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;

  • Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with an entrepreneurial spirit;

  • Exceptional attention to detail;

  • Working in a fast paced environment, shift lengths may vary.
