The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Beverage the Assistant Manager, Beverage will be primarily responsible for assisting with the day to day financial management, training and leadership necessary to achieve a superior quality of food & beverage services where Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation operates concessions. The Assistant Manager, Beverage will attain profitable beverage stands, employee retention, and ensuring satisfaction of quality, cleanliness, sanitation and meet or exceed the expectations of our guests.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Work with the Beverage Manager to drive accurate menu costing for venue to achieve profit percentages, taking a leadership role and providing assistance and direction as required;

  • Provide leadership, guidance to staff and supervisors on the floor during events;

  • Work with Beverage Manager in creating an on the job training program that addresses the needs of all hourly staff;

  • Monitor staff levels and adjust labour requirements, while ensuring customer service and business needs are met on a daily basis;

  • Uphold liquor control SOP policies and procedures to adhere with any necessary operational and regulatory changes.

  • Communicate and enforce all company policies;

  • Meet compliance to all regulatory requirements inclusive, but limited to Health and Sanitation Codes, Worker’s Compensation Board standards and AGLC guidelines;

  • Provide a safe working environment for both guests and staff through regular maintenance of all beverage stands and services, ensuring all equipment is in good working order;

  • Communicate and resolve patron concerns and/or questions;

  • Maximize contribution margins through marketing strategic business planning, adequate staffing level analysis and identifying anomalies;

  • Maintain ongoing communication with other departments to ensure effective and exceptional service delivery front and back of house;

  • Trained in W.H.M.I.S., Pro-Serve, ServSafe, or equivalent;

  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required;

  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop professional relationships;

  • Ability to communicate, motivate and lead effectively;

  • Analytical reporting as required;

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • 3 - 5 years of progressive food & beverage supervisory experience;

  • A post-secondary education focused on Hospitality Management or Business Management, or a combination of education and experience would be ideal;

  • Trained in W.H.M.I.S., Pro-Serve, ServSafe, NFSTP or equivalent;

  • Proven people skills, time management and strong communication skills;

  • A strong motivator, mentor and leader, who has the ability to form strong rapport with direct and indirect reports across a multifunctional organization;

  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and a natural talent for organizing and prioritizing responsibilities;

  • Must be able to take direction and work independently in a fast paced environment;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Please note that this position is based on the event schedule in a fast paced environment, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shift lengths vary, and require flexible working times. The successful candidate must be able to lift 25lbs.
