The Minor League Affiliate Dietitian will work as collaborative member within Sport Performance team to advance the nutrition and dietetics services that are provided to Boston Red Sox minor league players. The individual in this position will take an active role in providing on-site nutrition support at one of the Red Sox minor league affiliates. The focus of this role is to provide integrated, multi-disciplinary support around player health and performance enhancement; as such, this individual in this position will form strong collaborative relationships with other members of the performance and medical staff (e.g., strength & conditioning, sports medicine, sport science, coaching). In addition to providing on-site support to the affiliate program, the Affiliate Dietitian will be expected to report to Fort Myers, FL for Spring Training, then travel with their affiliate team for all home and selected away series throughout the team’s competitive season.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Affiliate Dietitian will collaborate with the Head Dietitian, and other members of the performance team, to support player health, wellness, and performance in the following areas:
Performance Nutrition Support:
Execute the nutrition department’s vision and strategy to enhance player performance and well-being.
Assesses and analyzes dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of athletes in the context of athletic performance and health.
Maintain documentation of nutrition assessments and nutrition services provided.
Conduct and track regular athlete testing and monitoring, including body composition assessments. Interpret data and provide recommendations in alignment with current research.
Addresses nutritional challenges to performance such as, food allergy and/or intolerances, vitamin/mineral depletion, gastrointestinal disturbances, bone mineral disturbances, those recovering from injury and/or illness to those who may have other special health care needs.
Educate and advise athletes on dietary supplements, including their health and/or performance-promoting functions, dosing, timing, safety and legality, risk considerations, while ensuring compliance with MLB policies.
Assist in the development of educational materials to support a structured, progressive educational program that grows with the athletes as they move through the minor league system.
Serve as a reliable food and nutrition resource for athletes and staff, ensuring all content provided is in alignment with evidence-based research.
Food Service:
Manage nutrition fueling for home and away practices, lift, training sessions and competitions, including pre-, during, and post-game fuel and hydration.
Communicate regularly and meet with food service suppliers, caterers, and vendors in efforts to strengthen relationships and provide greater resources and support to the athletes.
Coordinate travel nutrition with team staff and food offered in the clubhouse, bullpen, and dugout with clubhouse staff.
Manage fueling station including, but not limited to, maintaining proper inventory, fueling station aesthetics, and education.
Follow and promote proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
Assist the Head Minor League Dietitian in managing the meal budget for the team including organizing, planning, forecasting, purchasing, and tracking expenses.
Coordinate the development of menus and communicate the expectations, including food variety, quantity, and quality, with food service suppliers and/or caterers.

Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Exercise Science, or another related academic field of study. A Graduate Degree in preferred.
Certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN). Working towards a CSSD credential (Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics) is preferred.
State licensure for Florida, Virginia, or Massachusetts (or required upon hire).
At least one year of hands-on experience of working as a dietitian in a multi-disciplinary performance team within a high performing sport organization.
Competence with nutrient analysis and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams).
Ability to communicate complex data and concepts in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences.
First Aid and CPR certifications.
Baseball or softball experience preferred.
Fluent in Spanish is a plus.
The Red Sox (or FSM) requires proof of being up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment, subject to applicable legal requirements. Up-to-date means having received all recommended COVID-19 vaccination doses in the primary series and a booster dose(s) when eligible.
