Originally called the Maine Red Claws, the Maine Celtics have been the NBA G League affiliate of the Boston Celtics since the team’s inaugural campaign during the 2009-10 season. The Boston Celtics purchased the franchise prior to the start of the 2019-20 season and renamed the team to the Maine Celtics in May 2021. The Celtics play their home games at the Portland Expo. 20 players have earned GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA, including two players to Boston. Additionally, 31 Boston Celtics have been assigned to Maine for development or rehabilitation. 12 former Maine coaches have made the jump to the NBA, including Boston Celtics Assistant General Manager Austin Ainge.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and has a passion for selling with a superior ability to communicate effectively across the organization. You will work closely with partnership activation, business development and strategy to present impactful partnership opportunities to prospective partners. This role will report to the President of Maine Celtics.
Responsibilities:
Build and nurture meaningful relationships with clients
Prospect and cultivate new and existing sales through creative lead generation methods
Achieve individual and team quota provided each fiscal year
Track and manage prospective client lead information through the latest CRM
Evaluate partner activation plans and provide recommendations for development
Implement new strategies based on research and data to ensure customer satisfaction
Oversee assigned departmental projects as needed
Plan and implement events, promotions, and VIP experiences
Attend all special events to ensure fulfillment of partnership engagements
Translate partner-related business objectives and critical metrics into compelling stories
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and related experience with a professional sports team, league office or sports marketing agency
Ability to develop positive relationships internally and operate in a manner that reflects the Celtics’ collaborative-based culture
Strong negotiating and polished presentation skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Proven track record of closing revenue and successful partnerships
Ability to develop creative proposals that meet potential partners’ needs
Ability to read, interpret and provide feedback on partnership agreements
Basic understanding of social media marketing approaches and tools
Relationships with regional brands and local marketplace knowledge a plus
Ability to be proactive and flexible in the face of change and last-minute requirements
Ability to work all home games and be flexible on hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) as needed
Proficient in basic computer software programs

The NBA’s official minor league, the NBA G League prepares players, coaches, officials, trainers, and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league’s research and development laboratory. Featuring 29 teams, 28 with direct affiliations to NBA franchises for 2021-22, the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. 41 percent of all NBA players at the start of the 2021-22 season boasted NBA G League experience. In fostering the league’s connection to the community, its teams, players, and staff promote health and wellness, support local needs and interests, and assist in educational development through NBA Cares programs.
