The Run Prevention Fellow will aid in the Major League player development and advance scouting processes, providing meticulous analysis of pitching mechanics for the Major League coaching staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide mechanical analysis of Major League Pitchers for coaching staff
Serve as point person for internal and external mechanical review
Utilize video and data analysis to determine patterns and irregularities
Monitor and report on league-wide trends, actions, and advancements in the pitching industry
Complete exhaustive research projects for the Major League Run Prevention staff
Present research findings through an assortment of in-depth reports, videos, overlays, and presentations
Assist Manager, Pitching Strategy in completing daily technical tasks, such as the collection and importation of Trackman data and Edgertronic video
Contribute to the Club’s advance scouting and baseball operations efforts
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Advanced knowledge of video editing software and tools
Deep passion for baseball, baseball analytics, and baseball strategy
Prior experience operating Edgertronic video cameras and Trackman software
Ability to multitask, problem solve, and work within a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
Excellent at written and oral communication
Ability to articulate complex data/concepts and filter to applicable personnel
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
Desired:
Proficiency with SQL
Prior experience working with Hawkeye and/or motion capture systems
Prior experience in baseball operations is preferred, pro scouting and/or professional playing experience a plus
Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
Familiarity with the industry standard advanced metrics and latest evaluation methods
