Job Summary: The Atlanta Hawks are seeking talented coaches to assist in providing a positive, unique and memorable experience for the youth of metro-Atlanta.
Our mission is to provide the ultimate basketball summer camp and community court tour experience for boys and girls ages 7-16 of varying skill levels. We are looking for coaches who have a passion for developing athletes both on and off the court. An Atlanta Hawks Youth Basketball Summer Camp Coach should be highly motivated, flexible, driven and work well on a team. They should also be timely and bring high energy each day.
Responsibilities:
Perform on-court basketball instruction at basketball camps and clinics hosted by the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy
Lead basketball skills, drills, and competitions for kids and players ages 7-16
Bring energy and outgoing spirit to daily activities for youth participants
Transport basketball equipment to and from events utilizing the marketing vehicle fleet. (Valid driver’s license required)
Demonstrate and communicate Hawks values and principles to youth participants: leadership, teamwork, compassion, empathy, respect, hard work and having fun
Maintain a high level of professionalism while providing outstanding customer service to youth participants, parents, talent, facility directors, corporate partners, vendors, etc.
Ensure brand awareness at events and leading up to events by assisting with promotion to network
Work with Hawks Alumni and NBA Alumni to create memorable experiences at events
Assist with load-ins and load-outs at camps
Mandatory attendance at orientations, trainings and team building workshops prior to summer camp season
Create a positive, inclusive, safe and fun playing environment with an emphasis on player development for all
Ensure a safe and risk-free environment for campers, parents and other coaches
Manage a group of campers throughout the week while communicating with Lead Coach on games, competitions and drills
What the Youth Basketball Summer Camp Coach needs to have:
Passion for developing youth basketball players in a positive, fun and constructive way
Team-oriented, flexible, positive, proactive, reliable, accountable
Operates with a ‘no-job-too-small’ mindset
Coachable, punctual, willing to bring new ideas to the camps
Good written and verbal communication skills
Required Qualificatins:
Experience playing and/or coaching basketball required
Required to provide own transportation to locations throughout greater Atlanta
Must be comfortable working in groups of people and have experience public speaking
Should be organized, punctual, and pay attention to detail
Must be able to commit to working at least 3 full weeks camp throughout June and July (8:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday)—approximately 35 hours a week
CANNOT be affiliated with a Boys AAU Program for ages 15-18; no contact with top 100 prospects (NBA RULE)
CANNOT work with draft ineligible prospects (EX: international players, top 100 high school player in their class)
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree preferred
Experience working with kids ages 7-16 preferred
Prior experience working basketball camps preferred
