Position: Director, IT Engineering and Architecture

Reports to: SVP, Head of Technology Services

Position Overview:

The Director, IT Engineering and Architecture will be a key leader in the Technology Services organization responsible for the design and execution of a network and systems platform strategy for Truist Park (GA) and the North Port (FL) facility that enables the business to grow by adding new capabilities, reducing complexity, and improving operational effectiveness and efficiency. This leader will be the primary point of contact representing the technology platforms needed by the business to both internal and external stakeholders.

Technology Services is a crucial enabler of The Atlanta Braves’ success by delivering reliable, high-performance Technology systems and infrastructure that is easy to use. Technology Services works closely with business partners to improve and transform technology-enabled capabilities and the value of the Technology investment portfolio through innovation, execution, and an outstanding user experience. Major responsibilities:

  • Identify, staff, and develop a team of technical professionals, leveraging external firms to close critical skills gaps, while operating within defined budgets.

  • Maintain highly secure infrastructure, protecting sensitive corporate data from internal and external threats though enforcement of established IT security policies; monitor and manage Cisco ASA firewall environments to comply with those policies.

  • Lead the design, installation, support, and maintenance of hardware and software infrastructure according to established policies and vendor best practices, including networking (routers, switches, wireless controllers), system (physical Windows Servers and Virtualized Windows environments), and security components (firewalls).

  • Quickly diagnose and solve complex networking issues, often under intense time constraints. Provide network and host-based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.

  • Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.

  • Remain current on relevant emerging technologies via professional groups, trade organizations, internal and external training, independent research, and any other avenues available.

  • Conduct periodic audits, testing, and remediation in accordance with Braves IT, SOX, and PCI policies.

  • Roadmap: Work with internal stakeholders, MLB and external 3rd parties in the planning and integration of new innovative solutions

  • Champion Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) to deliver improved operational and financial performance by closing gaps in people, process, and tools

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science or related technical major

  • 10-15 years of networking and systems experience in a dynamic, fast paced environment

  • 3-5 years of technical leadership managing a team (direct or cross functional) to deliver results

  • Experience managing 3rd parties in the delivery of services

  • Networking and Security certifications or licenses (Cisco preferred)

  • Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, SAFE certification

  • Positive, motivated self-starter who is an action-oriented problem solver

  • Customer first, service-oriented mindset

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must complete a successful background check

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with applications (Microsoft Office 365, OKTA, Dell VxRail, VMWare, POS systems)

  • Cloud services experience: Google, Amazon Web Services, or Azure

  • Experience with stadium/entertainment venue technology

  • Financial management responsibility (e.g. budget, forecast, and tracking)

  • Project Management certification or demonstrated competence

  • Master’s Degree
