We have a new opportunity to be part of the Pattern Shop team in the role of CNC Machinist – Weekend Shift.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, hardworking, knowledgeable of Composite Machining practices and standards, flexible, proactive and have a ‘can do’ attitude.

The successful candidate must have the following attributes:

  • Previous extensive experience of setting and operating 5 axis CNC machines with a Heidenhain, Fanuc and/or Siemen’s control.

  • Experience of machining epoxy machining tooling block patterns, jigs and moulds and general understanding of Pattern Shop processes.

  • An ability to work with minimal supervision and make informed decisions when support may not be available.

  • A desire to work with others to improve and create processes and drive improvement within the department.

  • Experience of machining complex moulded carbon fibre components and inserts to tight tolerances – ideally class A Formula One components inc. chassis, gearbox, nose, suspension is desirable.

  • Knowledge of Openmind Hypermill software would be an advantage.

  • Experience using Renishaw probes to set parts/MSP software would be an advantage.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • A methodical and thorough approach to your work.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, combined with the ability to work well with colleagues.

  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and a dependable team player.

  • Possess good IT skills.

  • Have a positive attitude and be willing to help throughout the department.

  • Work well under pressure to meet time critical deadlines.

  • A willingness to work extra hours as required.

The Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Operating 5 Axis CNC machines using both Siemens and Heidenhain Control to machine epoxy tooling block patterns, jigs and fixtures and potentially composite components.

  • Assisting within other areas of the department as required.

  • Ability to deal with technical challenges as they arise and know when to ask if unsure.

  • Meeting challenging and demanding deadlines.

  • Maintaining consistent high standards.

  • Being proactively aware of Health and Safety requirements.
