The Manager, Corporate Communications is an energetic, detail-oriented, and collaborative role that primarily guides the club’s media relations efforts highlighting non-football activities, such as community engagement, business development, ticketing, and marketing, as well as initiatives involving the club’s broadcasting, digital and content teams. This position also assists football-related publicity activities and broadly supports the department’s overall efforts to manage the team’s brand and reputation.

This role reports directly to the Senior VP, Media Relations and provides essential perspectives and creative ideas that support the goals of the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional with expertise and experience in developing successful communications strategies who wants to contribute to team success. This a full-time benefited position located at the Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Facility in Tempe, AZ.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Serve as the primary media contact for business operations and non-football activities, including community engagement, business development, marketing, and broadcasting; drive publicity and generate earned media outside the scope of traditional sports coverage

  • Marketing/Broadcasting: Facilitate content requests from internal departments (i.e., digital, broadcast, and social media)

  • Community Relations: Drive publicity and generate earned media coverage of the team’s community initiatives; proactively seek opportunities to generate coverage that enhances the organization’s image by highlighting its community engagement efforts

  • Business Development: Highlight the team’s partnerships and positive impacts they provide to the community; assist in developing and delivering earned media value opportunities for team businesses and partners

  • Serve as the main contact for updating the team’s media website (com)

  • Develop and manage relationships with local, national, and international media members

  • Collaborate with staff members to develop and execute proactive corporate communications strategies that help achieve organizational goals

  • Provide research and analysis of the earned media value surrounding each of the above areas; produce reports measuring value and reach of coverage

  • Assist, as needed, with football-related media relations functions such as press conferences and availabilities, facilitating interviews, monitoring coverage, social media, and assist with authoring and editing team publications and football information

  • Help maintain information relative to the club, including team records, statistics, and biographical information on coaches, players, and front office personnel

  • Support People Operations (HR) with developing content and messaging for all-staff communications

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties of the job listed above may be considered

  • Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in communications, preferably working in professional sports

  • Solid public and media relations experience with a proven ability to earn positive media coverage at the local, regional, national, and international levels

  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills as well as strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and cultivate strong media contacts and relationships

  • Understanding of the importance of metrics and their value in determining the impact of communications

  • Strong editing and proofreading skills plus proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize activities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills

  • Recognizes and understands trends by staying current through engagement with social and traditional media and broadcasting

  • Strong work ethic and track record of delivering results in high-pressure situations

Special Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

  • May view computer screens for long periods of time
