About the Role:
OEG is looking for an exceptional corporate and real estate lawyer to join our Legal Services team in the Edmonton office. Reporting to the SVP, Legal and General Counsel, Legal Counsel will provide legal support with corporate, real estate, risk management and litigation work for the various business divisions under OEG. This role is primarily responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting corporate and real estate agreements; assisting in claims management and insurance procurement; and, coordinating with external counsel on litigation matters.
Your Focus in this Role:
Provide support with real estate, risk management, litigation, and corporate work.
Facilitate internal procurement and renewal processes for the insurance program.
Assist in claims management process including coordinating with insurer, adjuster, and other involved parties, gathering records, and supporting resulting litigation matters.
Coordinate internal response on litigation matters, gather information from business units and liaise with external counsel.
Draft a wide range of contractual agreements including property management agreements, marketing agreements, and license agreements.
Coordinate with external counsel working on real estate matters.
Work with OEG Sports & Entertainment on:
50/50;
Sports betting and gaming; and
Additional special projects such as rewards programs and broadcasting initiatives.
Work with the paralegal to prepare various corporate documents including closing agendas, resolutions, and basic agreements.

Education, Experience and Skills:
3+ years’ experience as a corporate-commercial lawyer, licensed to practice (or can become licensed to practice) in Alberta
Experience in one of more of the following areas of law is desirable:
real estate
insurance
litigation
Comprehensive understanding of legal risk and related legal risk management strategies
Excellent contract drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
Proactive and resourceful with an ability to “make things happen”
Good balance of creative/communications instincts and logical, analytical skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event and promotions schedule
