Director, Diversity Equity & Inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will drive the implementation of all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. The leader will work across the organization and partner with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council to bring our inclusive value to life, embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion into the culture of the Cubs organization. This is an individual contributor role that will act as the subject matter expert on diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing counsel and guidance to integrate DE&I practices across the organization, including human resources, communications, marketing, community relations, procurement, and all other areas of the organization.

  • Execute short- and long-range DE&I goals to support the organization’s DEI strategy and business goals

  • Lead integration of D&I programs and initiatives into broader company processes and practices

  • Conduct benchmarking and data-driven analysis to develop best in class DE&I initiatives

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to evaluate and enhance sourcing and selection strategies; build relationships that diversify talent pipelines for all roles; develop, maintain and monitor diversity metrics and reports that enable data-driven decision making to drive change in the organization

  • Implement a DE&I learning strategy for all associates to build and strengthen cultural competencies and educate leaders and associates on how to leverage diversity and inclusion for success

  • Develop and execute communications that increase awareness among associates

  • Engage employees to establish BRG’s that drive initiatives that are integrated with our overall business and DE&I strategy and goals

  • Partner with Procurement on supplier diversity initiatives that increase business opportunities for M/WBE firms and enterprises

  • Partner with Marketing to leverage DE&I in marketing and branding activations to reach and engage more diverse fans

  • Partner with Community Affairs and Cubs Charities to align and tie DE&I goals with community outreach and engagement

  • Partner with other business partners and leaders to incorporate practices and processes that embed DE&I into all aspects of the organization

  • Employ tools and methods to ensure the effectiveness of the DE&I strategy; analyze DE&I progress and recommend actions for strengthening DE&I across the organization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in diversity, equity & inclusion program development and driving impactful transformation for an organization

  • Knowledge of best practices and innovative approaches in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

  • Demonstrated experience articulating a vision, translating it to a strategy and operational goals and driving a cross-functional team to deliver

  • Proven track record of leading organization wide initiatives with multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Skilled in influencing and collaborating with all levels within an organization; ability to challenge conventional wisdom with sensitivity and tact

  • Highly collaborative; is motivated by engaging with and empowering others

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively work with a diverse range of people in a variety of situations

  • Persistent and steadfast in pursuing short and long term goals

  • Change management experience

  • Adaptable; can make decisions and move forward despite ambiguous or incomplete data

PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years experience as a diversity leader

  • Experience with research and data analysis

  • Experience with diversity content development
