We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager, Amateur Hockey Business Strategy to oversee the development, planning, and execution of all Amateur Hockey programs and activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program development, planning, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. As the Manager, Amateur Hockey Business Strategy, you will be responsible for managing leagues and programs, coordinating events, overseeing staff, creating revenue streams for the department, and ensuring first class customer experience. How You’ll Contribute:
Engagement:
- Provide regular updates and reports on project progress.
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of qualified coaches and staff members for the youth and adult hockey programs, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary resources and support to effectively develop players.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the arena network, program development, IGF, and youth and adult hockey programs, including scheduling, budgeting, program management, and equipment inventory.
- Establish strong relationships with hockey entities to host partnered educational programs, tournaments, and events.
- Work across all business units to promote and create revenue streams. Develop new and innovative ideas to continually grow the Chicago Blackhawks brand among youth and adult hockey communities.
- Collaborate with local hockey associations, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to establish partnerships and create pathways for player development and engagement. Innovate and deliver clear and comprehensive strategies to continually grow revenue through partnerships, programs, and tournaments.
Analysis and Assessment:
- Analyze the current program processes, operations, and financial performance.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and competitive programming.
- Evaluate market trends and industry best practices to provide informed recommendations.
- Ensure all youth and adult hockey programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and safety guidelines, prioritizing the well-being and welfare of all participants.
- Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the youth and adult hockey programs, implementing improvements based on data-driven insights and feedback from players, coaches, and parents.
Strategy Development:
- Develop customized strategies and action plans to address needed changes in player development progression and retention.
- Grow the game, by developing and executing strategies to attract new players to the programs and retain existing participants, focus on revenue generation, and program participation increase.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to define clear goals and measurable outcomes.
- Create detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines.
Problem Solving:
- Identify and prioritize key issues and bottlenecks within the organization.
- Provide innovative solutions and recommendations to overcome obstacles.
- Assist in implementing changes and improvements within the organization.
Data Analysis:
- Collect and analyze data, including financial reports, market research, and hockey program data.
- Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and strategy development.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations for strategy development.
- Manage IGF reporting and application for funding.
- Monitor and report on the progress of projects and initiatives.
- Monitor and manage budgets associated with programs and initiatives.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures to ensure a safe work ensure.
- Properly report and document incidents.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience with program management/development or association/club management.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field
- Extensive experience in hockey program management or related field.
- Proven experience in business consulting or a related role, with a track record of successful projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen and strategic mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and best practices.
- Project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- In-depth knowledge of sports progressions, including player development pathways and best practices.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
- Ability to address, adapt to, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
