
Manager of Communications & CSR, Greensboro Swarm
The Greensboro Swarm is the NBA G League team owned and operated by Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE). The Manager/Coordinator of Communications & CSR leads all aspects of communications and media activities including community, corporate communications and basketball communications. You will effectively promote all aspects of the team through community relations, ticket sales, corporate sales, etc.
Manager of Communications & CSR will plan and execute marquee events involving Swarm players, coaches and leadership; and manage the day-to-day operations of community programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Create and write team press releases for local media
Develop channels locally and regionally for disseminating news and publicity regarding the team for print, television, radio, periodicals and computer on-line
Manage team publications and approve all written communications on behalf of the team
Help to develop, pitch and place stories in education, trade and consumer media
Update and maintain team website related to stories and other related items for basketball and business operations
Responsible for managing and leading game stats crew for all Swarm home games related to staffing, set up and functionality
Work closely with player development team member in basketball operations in securing speaking and appearances for coaches, players and Team President
Responsible for the planning and execution of community events and programming
Implement community programs and activations through the organization or NBA platforms
Other duties as assigned by Director of Marketing and Team President
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
Bachelor’s Degree required; major in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or other related degree
2-4 years’ experience in communications, marketing or media related role
Strong interpersonal, written communication, presentation and listening skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel)
Must be forward thinker and well organized
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, as well as being a team player in a collaborative team environment
Ability to build relationships throughout the community, including non-profit organizations
Reliable, punctual and courteous
Understanding of local community and market preferred
Ability to organize work efficiently, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities
Tactful in communication; can handle sensitive and confidential information
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays for games and events, as needed, and occasional travel is required
Willingness and ability to provide proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination required. All religious, medical, or other legally recognized exemptions regarding vaccination status will be considered
