Position Overview

The Account Manager of Partnership Activation serves as a vital role on the Partnerships team focused on creating innovative solutions for next-generation Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) partners. HSE includes the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, NBA G-League’s Greensboro Swarm, NBA 2K League’s Hornets Venom GT, and managing and operating the region’s premier sports and entertainment venue, the Spectrum Center.

The Account Manager will manage and create high value partnerships that are customized, integrated, and flexible that serve to meet each partner’s unique marketing goals and objectives. Partnership activation could consist of, but is not limited to, intellectual property rights, in-arena signage, in-arena and in-market promotions, traditional media (TV, print, radio), digital media (online, mobile, social), community programs, retail activation, hospitality, private events, behind-the-velvet ropes experiences, as well as any other assets sold by the department..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day account lead and main point of contact for assigned partnership clients
  • Plan various corporate partnership activations, including but not limited to, in-game promotions, events, in-market activations, and partner digital/social campaigns
  • Prepare vital documents including partner playbooks, key asset updates, end of season recaps, and contracts
  • Strategize and co-lead conversations related to contract renewals
  • Identify and present upsell opportunities to assigned accounts
  • Utilize CRM system to track all activity related to partners including deal points, financials, client profiles and client interactions
  • Assist the Partnership Development team with creating unique activation ideas for prospects and identify/share industry best practices
  • Assist with game day department responsibilities including but not limited to in-arena activations, in-game promos, and client hospitality
  • Serve as an interdepartmental liaison for specific internal business units
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Higher education degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Customer service and sales oriented with proven experience building strong client relationships
  • Ability to sell incremental programs to existing partners
  • Previous agency or team experience is preferred
  • Ability to shape research, data and collected information into strategy
  • Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel), and Kore/Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Digideck presentation platform experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Desired soft skills: keen listener out of the box thinker, patient yet driven, , detailed oriented, conflict resolution, adaptable, coachable
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays for games and events, as needed, and occasional travel is required
