The Role of the Under 18’S Academy Analyst

The successful candidate will lead and coordinate the analysis of the U18 team. They will ensure players and staff within the academy receive the correct performance analysis provision including the monitoring and tracking of objective and subjective data.

Main Accountabilities

  • To deliver performance analysis support to the academy players, coaches and staff.

  • Liaise with the U18 Head Coach & support staff on daily requirements.

  • Film and code U18 Fixtures, ensuring fixtures are recorded and uploaded to relevant platforms.

  • Film and analyse training when required.

  • Produce opposition analysis where available.

  • Produce phase specific post-match reports for the Under 18’s.

  • Debrief games on a team/individual level with video and data to players and staff.

  • Maintain video and statistical databases on teams and individual players.

  • Monitor and maintain PMA database in line with EPPP & UEFA regulations.

  • Contribute to the MDT programme with detailed provision for all players.

  • Supervise feedback of match and educational content to all players and coaching staff, ensuring most applicable method and style is used.

  • Provide support on individual analysis for the academy using subjective and objective data.

  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.

  • Complete other tasks as requested by Head of Analysis, B Team Staff and Academy Staff.

General Club Accountabilities

  • To ensure compliance with all relevant Club policies, including GDRP, PECR EPPP and PL PMA

  • To build and maintain good working relationships with both U18 and academy players and staff to support the football development programme.

  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.

  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times.

  • To ensure compliance with all safeguarding processes and procedures.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • Highly analytical and high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure & meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work unsociable hours as required involving work outside normal office hours, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

  • A dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic individual.

  • Proactive decision maker with excellent communication skills, to work alongside other departments.

  • Experience working in elite Football analysis.

  • Experience using Analysis related software’s (WyScout, Angles, Sportscode, RT Tactic Pro, Microsoft Excel and others.)

  • Understands Health & Safety principles and practices.

  • An enhanced DBS check is undertaken for all staff based at the training ground

Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics

  • Masters in a Performance Analysis / Sports Science discipline

  • Coaching experience / qualifications

  • Experience using Tableau
