We have opportunities to be part of the Finance team in the role of Finance Business Partner - Technical & Development.
The Successful candidate must have the following attributes:
QUALIFICATIONS
- CCAB Qualified (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
EXPERIENCE
- Finance business partnering / management accounting experience (minimum of three years)
- Manufacturing experience desirable
- Experience of working within automotive or aerospace sectors desirable, ideally within Formula 1 in a similar role
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities with ability to challenge effectively across departments
- Excellent organisational, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Analytical mind-set and an eye for detail, capable of working quickly to a high standard of accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment, dealing with a high volume of workload
- Communicate information effectively verbally and in writing with use of graphical tools as necessary
- Advanced/expert in use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritising own work and the work of the team in an organised and accurate manner within tight deadlines, keeping calm and focussed
- Be enthusiastic and versatile and be able to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues
The key responsibilities of this role are:
REPORTING & ANALYSIS
- Ensure accuracy of the monthly cost position in your areas of responsibility via robust oversight of expected and actual costs
- Understand and explain variances from forecast, what actions are being taken to address or mitigate areas of overspend, and what risks and/or opportunities remain
- Support investment (capex) decision making, ensuring a robust review of all relevant factors including cost/benefit analysis as appropriate
- Monitor capex spend vs approved amounts to ensure spend is on track, driving business action and updating forecasts as appropriate
- Working closely with the business to maintain an up-to-date view of current, upcoming, and potential F1 car development projects (aerodynamic and mechanical)
- Tracking costs against all live projects, with variance analysis against initial project estimates, and using this to maintain a rolling forecast of anticipated full year position to support decision-making around potential future development and cost cap management
- Lead the budget & forecasting processes for technical areas, and work closely with the Supply Chain FBP in relation to budgeting and forecasting, and planning for total car production costs
- Perform regular, robust, and consistent reporting to the business for car development, including a formal weekly report and live āself-serveā data, ensuring the business is aware of emerging cost vs original forecast assumptions with rationale for variations
OPTIMISING SPEND & DRIVING IMPROVEMENTS
- Perform ad-hoc analysis on focus areas to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and/or achieve efficiencies in technical areas, providing robust challenge and support to the business to drive action & deliver improvements
- Increase awareness of cost and understanding of cost drivers & risks/opportunities across your areas of responsibility
- Assess the cost/benefit equation of potential development projects in consideration of relevant factors (e.g. performance benefit, time, resource, materials, cost-cap, other)
- Use this analysis to inform the decision-making process and guide the business accordingly, supporting and influencing F1 car development programmes and facilitating optimal and agile decisions
- Work collaboratively and proactively with business and project teams in any system improvement/ implementation programmes to ensure the resulting solution facilitates top class business partnering
- Apply a continual improvement mindset to proactively identify further business partnering opportunities
TEAM
- Work cohesively within the FBP team, applying a flexible approach and supporting each other to ensure all obligations are fulfilled accurately and to schedule, and all business stakeholders needs are met
- Provide cover for other FBPs during periods of absence
- Assist wider members of the Finance team with ad-hoc requests to support the business when required
