Director, H&S Information Technology Operations

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $191,604 to $234,183 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

Direct, develop, administer, and coordinate IT department operations for H&S. Collaborate with the CIO, setting the short- and long-term strategic objectives while providing the management necessary to achieve the goals of the IT organization.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and communicate the strategic objectives and determine specific information requirements for management

  • Achieve desired results using budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision making

  • Implement the installation and operation of information systems and equipment

  • Keep current on new developments in information systems technology, and plans for future upgrades and organizational changes

  • Keep abreast of government regulations applicable to systems operations and ensure corporate compliance

  • Ensure overall technology health by maintaining and continuously improving desktop, server, and network operations

  • Collaborate closely with peers, staff, and H&S leadership to accomplish organizational and department goals

  • Evaluate new processes and technology for potential deployment to improve standardization, speed of service, and cybersecurity posture

  • Escalate issues to appropriate management when necessary to minimize service interruptions and control project outcomes to align with the agreed-upon budget, scope, and timelines

  • Create a process of continuous improvement by performing project postmortem analysis

  • Manage and develop junior staff members to promote career growth and bench strength

  • Work closely with vendors to establish deliverables, ensure quality, and manage budget and timeline

  • Identify applications, hardware, and software that may need to be upgraded or replaced and work with stakeholders to establish budget and project pipelines

  • Coordinate with staff from each IT area to facilitate technology outcomes

  • Direct and prioritize the workload of subordinate personnel

  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and negotiating cost-efficient contracts

  • Coordinate outside IT consulting assistance

  • Lead efforts to improve IT processes

Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 7 or more years of experience in managing infrastructure/operations resources with at least 5 years at the Director or Senior Manager level

  • Minimum of 10 years leading projects of increasing complexity and budget

  • Proven experience creating and implementing standard processes across departments to create efficiencies and support growth

  • Must have extensive experience in the oversight of networks, desktops, systems, Wi-Fi, and security solutions

  • Extensive experience overseeing the integration and management of productivity tools used by internal staffers

  • Significant infrastructure architecture experience in both Data Center and Cloud environments

  • Strong understanding of mobile device management and zero trust architecture

  • Able to prioritize and adapt to meet changing needs

  • Excellent follow-through skills

  • Able to complete projects on time and on budget

  • A self-motivated leader who thrives in a growing organization

  • Able to troubleshoot and logically work through various steps to resolve issues

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, written and oral
